Monet, Renoir and the Impressionist Landscape is a spectacular exploration of the great outdoors! Visitors will be dazzled by this exhibition of 69 paintings of the French landscape drawn from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's prestigious collection of Impressionist masterpieces. Artists include Camille Corot, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh, all master painters with a gift for capturing light and colour. The National Gallery of Canada is the only Canadian stop on the exhibition's international tour. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Gallery or by calling 998-8888 or 1-888-541-8888. Sunday 30 July at 2 pm Le paysage impressionniste et l'élaboration de la sujectivité moderne, by Nicole Blondin, Professor of Art History, Université de Montréal. In French with simultaneous translation. In the Auditorium. Tickets: adults $5, seniors and full-time students $4, Friends of the NGC $3, visitors under 18 free.
Saturdays 12 and 19 August from 9 am to 5 pm Masters of Light: Monet, Renoir and the Impressionists. Following a visit of the exhibition, participants will experiment with drawing and painting techniques and - weather permitting - paint en plein air. Tickets: $96, Friends of the NGC $86. Includes a visit to the exhibition and all materials.

Saturday 12 August from 2 to 4:30 pm The Living Canvas: Bus Tour of the Capital's Gardens. The history of early 20th-century landscape design as it relates to Impressionism, including a bus tour of the gardens in Ottawa. Tickets: $15, Friends of the NGC: $12.
Sundays 23 July and 20 August, 11 am to 4 pm For children ages 3 and up accompanied by an adult. Join us on a magical journey of discovery and art creation. Made possible thanks to The Imperial Oil Charitable Foundation. Free admission.

An audioguide, sponsored by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is available in the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Canada for $5. We have added a new feature this year: as well as an audio tour for adult visitors, we have designed a special tour for children. Rob Clipperton is the narrator of the adult audioguide while Harry Elton provides the voice of Claude Monet for the children.
