Robin Collyer
Yonge Street, Willowdale, 1995

Advertising is a fact of modern life. Corporate messages surround us constantly. This image is part of a series by Canadian artist Robin Collyer who comments critically on the media and digital photography. Collyer scanned a photograph of a typical street scene in Toronto and used a computer to remove the text and flaws from the image. These simple changes recall retouching, a common practice since the early years of photography. Collyer printed the image on traditional photographic paper.
