Theme:

The story of Adam and Eve as related in the bible, the book of Genesis, is a Christian account of the creation and fall of man. The narrative begins with the creation of Adam by God out of clay and Eve out of Adams rib. The pair lived peacefully in the Garden of Eden until they tasted the forbidden fruit and were banished from Eden to a life of struggle. Many of Dürer's prints directly reference religious subject matter, his prints were used not only as book illustrations but were purchased by individuals for display in their homes.
