The viewer experiences different optical perspectives and a heightened awareness of his/her relationship to the space. As the viewer shifts position, the line appears as if it is drawn on the wall. Depending on where the viewer stands, the sense of his/her size will change according to his/her relationship to the line. The viewer may appear smaller or taller. The following comments by Susan Delehanty describe the effect of this work on the viewer:
Nearly invisible to the restive, impatient eye, his sculptures slow us down. Their transparency heightens the keenness of our vision. And their silence intensifies our awareness of sound. Weightless, they make us acutely aware of our own bodily presence: the pull of gravity down our spine, the grace or awkwardness of our movements, the passage of time.
