Interpretation:

Wall Drawing no. 623 was made especially for the walls of the Contemporary Courtyard of the National Gallery of Canada. It challenges the notion of permanence, because it is created directly on the wall and cannot be removed, only painted over, contradicting the idea of an art object as precious and meant to be preserved.
