Black Volume is a free- standing rectangular block of human size, measuring 182.7 x 61 x 23 cm, recalling a coffin or a statue. The sculpture, which is placed directly on the floor, confronts the viewer. It is made of aluminum and painted with black matte acrylic. The work engages the viewer and as he/she moves around it in space, the sculpture seems to change from a three-dimensional volume into a flat, dark two - dimensional surface.
