Photocopy and enlarge the photos

Ask students to draw a grid with larger squares on their photocopy.

Ask the students to outline their house onto the grid paper, in such a way that the drawing could be split in half by a line drawn down the middle. Half of the home will be drawn as an abstract with few details, and the other half, will be drawn as realistically as possible with all of the details, as in the work of Carl Schaefer.

Ask the students to colour one side of their home with cool colours and the other side using warm colours.
