Teachers Lesson Plans
From Africa to Canada: Grade 7-8
Have students prepare four sketches each that will help him or her analyze the topic: a sketch for the physical features of the figure, a study of the figure?s clothes, a sketch of the attribute or symbol emphasizing profession and a final sketch for the finished version of the figure.
Using clay, have students assemble and shape various forms for the figure: cone, cylinder, rectangle, cube, for the arms, head, body etc.
Ask students to combine the various forms to create a figure. Their figures should be balanced, proportioned, and emphasize the symbol of his/her profession.
Have students display their figures on a map of the world, in order to illustrate the theme of migration from Africa to Canada.
