Impressive prints: Grade 4-6
This lesson plan provides an introduction to contemporary Inuit prints and drawings in the National Gallery of Canada?s collection. The chosen works are from five important print shops located in the four major regions of the Canadian Arctic. Students will familiarize themselves with an Inuit printmaking technique and create prints of a fictional animal.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of positive and negative areas of space.
Students will produce two-dimensional works of art that communicate a range of ideas.
Students will describe how art tools, materials, and techniques affect their artistic choices.
