Theory Criterion
Can the student identify primary and secondary colours, the various kinds of lines and geometric and organic shapes?

The student is unable to identify primary and secondary colours, the various kinds of lines, or geometric and organic shapes.

The student is able to identify one or two colours, one or two kinds of lines and one or two shapes.

The student is able to identify three or four colours, three or four kinds of lines and three or four shapes.

Creation Criterion
Can the student explain the choices he/she made during the creation process?

The student does not explain the choices he/she made during the creation process.

The student explains the choices he/she made during the creation process by providing one example.

The student explains the choices he/she made during the creation process by providing two or three examples.

Analysis Criterion
In a group discussion, does the student explain how the elements of design are used to communicate ideas and feelings?

In a group discussion, the student does not provide any example to explain how the elements of design are used to communicate ideas and feelings.

In a group discussion, the student provides one example to explain how the elements of design are used to communicate ideas and feelings.

In a group discussion, the student provides at least two examples to explain how the elements of design are used to communicate ideas and feelings.
