Grade K-3
Lumps Bumps, Gritty and Soft!:
After exploring the complex visual worlds of M.C. Escher, students will learn how to identify, recognize and discuss texture, an element of design, and patterning, a principle of design, then incorporate that learning into a texture poster.
Grade 4-6
My Upside-down World!:
After exploring the complex visual worlds of M.C. Escher, students will explore the key concept of space. They will use a variety of effects and techniques while transforming a box into an imaginary world.
Grade 7-8
Tantalizing Tessellations! :
After exploring the complex visual worlds of M.C. Escher, students will learn how to create their own tessellations - a series of interlocking flat shapes that are often different figures or geometric forms - and apply them in a two-dimensional image.
Grade 9-12
Self-Portrait, Mirrors and Metamorphosis!:
After exploring the complex visual worlds of M.C. Escher, students will create their own self-portrait using different types of reflective surfaces. They will engage in a process of self-reflection and how they want to be portrayed.
