01 Materials

There are two kinds of pastels: chalk pastels and oil pastels. The large box shown here is a universal set of soft pastels that contains a full range of colours. Some sets have over 500 shades of colour. There are also smaller specific sets for different subject areas such as landscape, still life and portrait.
