Jeff Wall
Jeff Wall was born in Vancouver in 1946. He received his MA from the University of British Columbia in 1970 and then pursued doctoral research at the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London. He is best known for his large light-box photographs of staged scenes. In these, he recreates moments of uncertainty or ambiguity. Art historical references and the manipulation of the image play a key role in this work.
