Robert Houle
Robert Houle was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba in 1947. He has a BA in Art History from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Education in Art Education from McGill University. He teaches at the Ontario College of Art. Houle?s work comes from his perspective as a First Nation?s Saulteaux artist. He uses the conventions of modernist abstraction to deal with issues of cultural appropriation and the assimilation of First Nations people.
