An announcement of the Canadian Painting in the Thirties exhibition at the Musée d?art Contemporain de Montréal, organized by the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibition explores the period of transition of the 1930s, between the emergence of the Group of Seven and that of the Automatists. Also upcoming at the museum are exhibitions of the works of Paul-Émile Borduas and the Automatists, Hans Hoffman and Jules Olitski, as well as Primitive paintings from Haiti. Illustrated with a black and white reproduction of Carl Schaefer?s Ontario Farmhouse (1934).
